WHAT IS CATARACT?
A cataract is a cloudiness of the eye’s natural lens, which lies between the front and back areas of the eye, directly behind the pupil. The risk of cataracts increases with age.
Are you experiencing blurred or cloudy vision? Are you having difficulty seeing at night or in very bright light? Do colours seem faded or yellow? As you grow older, you can expect your eyes – and your vision – to change. In some cases, the eye lens can become harden and thicker, producing a very common condition called cataracts. It can also be caused by trauma that was not properly treated or not treated at all, but with early detection and the right treatment, it’s possible to preserve or restore the clarity of your vision. DOTHAN EYE CENTRE, we offer cataract screenings and treatments to patients just like you.
Glaucoma is the term used to describe a number of related conditions that cause damage to the optic nerve, which transmits information from the eye to the brain. It usually (but not always) is associated with high intraocular pressure (IOP). Left untreated, glaucoma can cause blindness. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve and diminishes the field of vision.
Glaucoma is a common cause of vision impairment that affects patients throughout the world. The good news, however, is that glaucoma can often be managed successfully when caught early on. That’s why it’s important to get a glaucoma screening if you’re at risk for the disease. At DOTHAN EYE CENTRE, we offer glaucoma screenings in the comfort of our clinics. We also offer custom treatment plans designed to preserve your vision.
